What, You Didn't Hear About This?

Bookkeeper out of the loop because she's outsourced

Outsourcing is a powerful way to add high level professionals to your team without the cost of adding them to your regular staff. The key to remember when you add an outsourced professional to your team is that they are not a part of your staff.

I’m not stating the obvious to be demeaning, but as a reminder. The outsourced professional isn’t a part of your office, so they are not privy to the office chatter. You need to keep in mind that we are not “in the loop”.

As an outsourced Bookkeeping firm there have been many times when we had to play catch up. Scrambling to get information pulled together to add a new equipment purchase or loan to the books, because we had no idea these things had happened. In order to get the most out of your outsourced professionals find a way to keep them in the loop. If you have regular staff meetings send them a copy of the minutes. If you are making changes that effect their area of expertise send them an email and give them a heads up.

Here are a few things that you may have happening in the office that directly effect your accounting professional –

  • Equipment purchases

  • New loans

  • Staffing changes

  • Office closures

We all try to do our best, but keep in mind we are only as good as the information we have at our disposal.
